Masquerade Ball and Battles

On March 6th we will be holding a Charity event at the Wilson Ruritan to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Organized battles will run from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm and all you have to do is show up garbed with legal weapons.  No entry required for battles but donations are always welcome.  Battles will consist of Ditch, militia and class style battle games with frequent weapon checks.

At 5:00 pm, we will open the doors for the Masquerade Ball.  To enter the Ball, you will need to pay a $10 entry fee and numbers are limited to 50.  You can reserve ahead of time or show up and take your chances at the door.  This is a Masquerade Ball and all are encouraged to wear masks, thou it is not required.

There will be a main meal, side dishes and punches at the ball.  A small selection of sodas will be available for sale.  The Ball is also a BYOB so if you want the booze, be sure to pack it when you come.  Menu to follow...

At the door, you will also have the opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket for a couple different items.

All profits from ticket sales and all sales from the raffles will go directly to the CF foundation.

This will be a day of battles and an evening of fun.

The member of the Banded Blade and friends would like to thank you all for your time and support in helping out with one of our long term charities.

If you have any questions or wish to make reservations, please contact us at lady_azreal_b@yahoo.com
Thank you all for your support.

Greetings to all. Please send your reservations to me for the Ball ASAP. I am in the process of planning the menu for your meal. If you have any dietary concerns let me know in the email. I rarely check the forums so send me the information directly. Please do not wait until the day of the event and show up at the door. It will help in planning to know who and how many people are going to attend.

Thank you,
Lady Azreal Blazenwood

Our RSVP's are low and we need to know who is coming.  Contact asap so that we can make sure that all who are planning on attending is covered.  You can e-mail the above address.

Remember, this is for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Thank you all for your support.

OK everyone.  We need to know who is coming.  Not just for the ball but for the battles as well.  If people are not showing up for the fighting, we will plan something else for that time.  We need to hear something.

As for the Ball, let us know.  We want to know the numbers so that we can supply the proper amount of food for everyone.

Thank you for your time and your support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

I will be attending the ball, we have plans earlier that day. But Bagel and I may need a ride to the ruritan around 5-ish. If you can help out, let us know, thanks!

Greetings,

I had the pleasure of attending the Charity Ball and have many good things to say about it.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for organizing such a wonderful and successful event.

To start, the decorations were gorgeous! Along with Sir Roland & I, my mother and sister also attended. My mother raved about how elegant the room looked and how much trouble they went to to make it so lovely. My sister even went to Jerry and asked where he got the lighting, etc. She, too was amazed at the great job he did and happily picked his brain for creative party ideas.

The music and dancing were great! The music selections were perfect. I enjoyed watching the guests dance in groups and apart. They all had a blast! Special requests were happily accepted so the songs were just right for everyone. The children especially enjoyed having the 'Gummy Bear' song played just for them.

As for the cooking, it was filling, well presented and fantastic. Azreal made a meal that was delicious and memorable. My mom (and me, too) even bought some of the leftovers to take with us to help with the charity and because it was so yummy! We had roast ham, green beans, parsley potatoes, slaw, rolls w/butter, three kinds of cakes for dessert (coconut, peanut butter/chocolate, and vanilla) and 5 beverages from which to choose. Everyone had seconds, even thirds and everything was well organized.

When Chrissy got up to give her speech about what it's like to have Cystic Fibrosis there was scarcely a dry eye in the place. It drove home how terribly important this event was in fighting this terminal disease. It was heartbreaking to hear about how many people in her support group had died in that year alone - and at such young ages. I was very happy to be a part of something so crucial to the lives of those we love. She had with her the medicines she takes daily just to survive longer so we could all see even a glimpse of her life. She spoke about the statistics of CF - how the average life expectancy is 37.5 years - and that she is 33. She pledged to do everything in her power to make each moment count in fighting to find a cure, not just for her, but for the children, friends and loved ones who are still fighting for their lives each day as she does. She shared with us how great strides had been made in experimental medicines that may hold hope for a cure. She then thanked us for listening and had a song played over the loudspeaker which was written and sung by people who have CF and their families entitled "Breathe". It was very moving and unforgettable.

It was kind of the two merchants who donated their goods (fairies, dragons, tapestries, jewelry, etc.) for raffles so even more money could be raised for CFF (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation). Between the donation jars, the raffles and the meal, money was raised to donate to this cause. It reminds me of the Battle for the Cure back in 2002, when CG was a Barony & organized a charity event for CFF that raised over $4,300 dollars in donations alone. Over eight Kingdoms came to CG to represent and share in the fight against CF.

Again, I would like to thank the Banded Blade, Jerry, Azreal, Chrissy, Frank, the Wilson Ruritan, the merchants & all those who made this event possible and who donated to this worthwhile cause. Huzzah to all!

Most sincerely,
Dame Angela Mastersinger
