That looks like the swords we were making in Darkon 7 years ago.  Only we didn't insert a kitespar into a pvc handle.  What is the reasoning?

Efficiency of materials.

THe kitespar I am buying comes in sticks of 57". After cutting them in half to get 2 swords per stick you have to have something to extend the length otherwise you will be fighting with 25" swords. Just a way stretch your supplies.

i would love to learn it. New ways to make better swords are always great.

I just made a pool noddle sword last night and i know its not gonna last. The noddle just sucks.

on the kitespar, what kind do you recommend.  from the document im guessing .505 but fiberglass, carbon?

fiberglass.  our next order is gonna be .524, it's a lil bit thicker.  i'm also gonna be ordering some .524 and some .414 to make something longer than a short sword.  the 414 should fit inside the 524.  i'll let ya guys know how it works out after a few weeks of use.

this place is a little cheaper for kite spar, also.. how many shorts do you think a sheet of the MC will make about?

if im reading the kite spar chart correctly, then that site has a .524, 64 inches long for cheaper than the .505 at the other site

we're actually buying from brennon now, but he will only sell $100+ orders.  he is, however, the cheapest out there.

This may be posted somewhere else, but the walmarts down here are stocking Funnoodle not that shitty planet foam stuff. So you all might want to check your wal-marts.

I will agree that noodle isnt as good as it used to be but, I use the noodle here around VA. and it lasts me atleast a couple of months. 1) I don't hit hard. 2) I don't let people use my swords cause when they do they hit hard and core them. In my experience it all depends on who uses them.

i have made a sword or 2 in my time and even a staff. i however did not tape it with packing tape instead i used duct tape throughout. most was the cheap stuff but the final wraping layers were good 3M tape. then over top i used black elec tape the good 33 or better is best  rather than the cheap "japwrap" stuff.  corse i did use a sock to cover the whole thing so as not to "smack"someone with just tape. all have held up rather well. and of corse i do not ditch 3-4 times a month either  but i do break them out for a few hrs a month and they are about 3 yrs old now.
